Discography of Eminem

Marshall Mathers was born in St. Joseph, a small town just outside Kansas City, MO. Marshall spent most of his early life between St. Joseph and Detroit, living in near poverty conditions. He was deeply attracted to rap music by the time he reached his teen years, and at the age of 14 was performing raps in his friend’s basement. The two pals billed themselves as Manix and M&M which, was soon changed to Eminem (the name originally was formed from his initials). Because of the racial boundaries that were placed in front of him as a white rapper he took to the underground rapping as a battle rapper in clubs. He eventually became a popular performer and discovered that he was the rapper to beat.

The topics of his raps are based on his skills to express himself about his unhappy childhood and the drastic, and often dramatic, circumstances that arose throughout his life. His recordings over the past several years are an impressive accumulation of deep and meaningful lyrics.

- 1995 – Joined New Jacks, then left, and joined Soul Intent releasing his first single
- 1997 – Debut album is released. The title, ‘Infinate’
- 1998 – After being contacted by Dr.Dre, Eminem releases his -alter-ego’s’ album, ‘The Slim Shady EP’. Eminem had discovered that his only means of dealing with his life was through his rap music. The single to preview the albums release was ‘Just Don’t Give A Fuck’.

- 1999 – In February his official, full album release happens, ‘The Slim Shady LP’. In March he hit the top 40 with his single, ‘My Name Is’ and by October his album was certified 3x platinum.

- 2000 – In February, Eminem won 2 Grammy Awards; Best Rap Solo Performance for “My Name Is”, and Best Rap Album (The Slim Shady LP) . In March he was back in the top 40 with a collaboration rap song done with Dr.Dre, called “Forget about Dre’. By summer his latest album emerged on the music scene, -The Marshall Mathers LP’, selling close to 2 million copies in the first week. By the end of August, his -Marshall Mathers LP’ had hit 6x platinum and hit 7x by the end of September. By the end of the year the album was the second highest selling at 7.9 million copies sold within the year.

- 2002 – The rapper re-emerged after a year of legal battles to write some new lyrics with the album ‘The Eminem Show’. Singles ‘Without Me’ and -Cleanin’ Out My Closet’ from the album, proved very popular. In June, ‘Without Me’ topped the Billboard Top 40 for two weeks. ‘Cleanin’ Out My Closet’ hit the top ten in September. October saw the release of the soundtrack to movie ’8 Mile’ which featured several songs by the rapper as well as other artists, like Jay-Z and Macy Gray. From this soundtrack, Eminem hit #1 for three weeks with song -Lose Yourself’.

- 2003 – January saw him win the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Male Musical Performer. Most of this year was spent collaborating with other artists and winning various music and music video awards.

- 2004 – His ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ had now hit 9x platinum and by November, a new album, ‘Encore’ was released. Singles, ‘Mosh’ and ‘Mockingbird’, hit the top 40 charts.

- 2005 – This year saw the rapper taking time off to produce music with other artists but not before he released a hit album called ‘Curtain Call’. The album contained 3 new tracks in addition to his chart toppers.

- 2009 – A highly anticipated album was due for release this May/June entitled ‘Relapse.’

Eminem is well known for his raw, honest, and graphic lyrics and continues to deliver results with each new track. He has struggled emotionally and has chosen to share his struggles through his rap music. His talents have been rewarded time after time with countless awards for both his music and videos.

History of Beyonce’s Career

beyonceBeyonce Giselle Knowles was born September 4th, 1981 in Houston, Texas to Matthew and Tina Knowles as the first born of two girls. Before she reached the age of seven she was singing and showing signs of great talent. When she was seven, she was already attending dance school and was a soloist in the church choir.

By the time she reached her teen years, any spare time she could find was spent with her childhood pals, LaTayia Roberson, Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett, performing at local functions. The girls, then known as “Girl’s Tyme” tried their luck at Star Search but did not make the cut. Beyonce’s Dad gave up his good paying job in order to devote his time promoting the band. To this day Matthew Knowles manages his daughter’s career.

After trying a few different names, the girls settled on Destiny’s Child. The musical debut for the group was the song “Killing Time”, which appeared on the soundtrack for the “Men in Black” movie, released in 1997. A year later, they had number one single with the song, “No,No,No, Part 2.” The quartet became a trio later on that same year with the departure of LeToya and LaTayia, who decided to pursue individual careers. Destiny’s Child continued onwards and became one of the top R&B/Pop groups in 2000 accumulating four Billboard Hot 100 number one singles and numerous top ten hits, as well as two albums that went to number one.

The group’s second album continued with great success with tracks like “Say My Name,” “Jumpin’ Jumpin,’” and the very successful “Bug A Boo.” In the 2001, two Grammy awards were given to “Say My Name”. They followed up with a third album, “Survivor,” which produced such hits as the title track as well as “Bootylicious”. The group decided to disband by 2005 but had at that time proven themselves as one of the top selling female groups in music history.

Beyonce had proven her worth and skills as a songwriter. She won the 2001 Songwriter of the Year, awarded by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers Pop Music Awards. This made her the first African-American woman to win the award and only the second woman to win. She also spent a bit of time working on solo projects which at first was not as successful as the projects with the trio, but she was not easily discouraged.

When she finally released her solo debut album, “Dangerously in Love”, it went right to the top selling over 300,000 copies in just the first week and went platinum 3 weeks later, in June of 2003. The single from the album,”Crazy in Love” topped the charts and stayed there for over 8 weeks. Later that same year her album and the single topped the charts at the same time which put her on the same level as such musical wonders as The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Rod Stewart. She was and still is the only female artist to have accomplished this feat. This helped make Beyonce one of the biggest artists in both sales and popularity for 2003.

In 2004 she won five Grammy Awards. On the Destiny’s Child album released in 2005, Beyonce released a song called “Check on It,” which was used on the soundtrack of “The Pink Panther Movie,” released in 2006.

In correspondence with her 25th birthday, she released a second album called “B’day,” which sold more than her first solo album, with 541,000 copies sold in the first week after release. The lead single from the album, “Deja Vu,” became a number one hit on the US R&B charts.

Not only has Beyonce had success in music, but also on the movie screen. She may be best known for the character Foxy Cleopatra in the 2002 summer movie, “Austin Powers in Goldmember” along side Michael Caine and Mike Myers. In 2003 she appeared beside Cuba Gooding Jr. in the movie “The Fighting Temptations”. In 2006, she got chance to pay homage to Diana Ross in a movie based on a Broadway musical depicting the lives of the Supremes. Beyonce showed off her incredible acting skills, playing the part of Ms. Ross in the Movie titled, “Dreamgirls”, which opened with first weekend sales of $8 million and has grossed well over $100 million to date.

Beyonce’s talent has shown no end in sight and her fans are looking forward to see what is yet to come.

Singing Techniques – Best Singing Techniques Revealed!

If you are like me, you might be concerned about your singing which is not that much good as your voice embarrasses you every time you try to sing in any occasion because you do not the right singing techniques.

What if I provide you with the right singing techniques to solve your problem?

Don’t be surprised, because now you can improve your singing voice through practicing singing techniques whatever level you are in.

Singing techniques are a great help for the people who are not having natural talent of singing and desire to sing like professionals. Vocal teachers and experts all over the world have introduced these singing techniques for the benefit of such people. Many renowned singers also practice these singing techniques when they start singing. These are easy and simple exercises but the results they provide are amazingly remarkable that you would not believe.

Let us dig these techniques…

Breathing is the most effective singing technique for you if you want to sing perfectly. Most of us can not sing well because we do not know how to breathe properly. Raise your chest, and take a breath so that it can not produce any movement in the shoulders and upper chest. Only the diaphragm will expand when the air goes in it and this is the sign of proper breathing.

Relax your muscles as much as you can. Your facial muscles, jaws, vocal cords must be relaxed fully as it will help in producing a good quality singing voice right from your throat. This singing technique involves the adjustment of muscles in a proper way so as to create a balance and harmony of voice notes in the act of singing.

Resonance is a singing technique that involves vibration of voice with the help of muscles, bones and cavities in such a way that whole of the human body resonates at once while singing. This helps in maintaining the vocal quality.

The next singing technique is known as registration which takes place when your vocal cords readjust themselves when you are singing at a high and low pitch of the song. The vocal cords lift upward when you are singing on a low note while these are lowered if you are singing a high note. This allows the shift in your singing voice quality.

Another singing technique is diction that refers to the delivery of the song text in a sensible, appealing in a complete emotional way. When you speak you use either a consonant or a vowel. These both syllables require different positioning of tongue when they occur. You have to take good care of delivery of these vowels and consonants while singing as it will impose a good effect of your voice on the audiences. Moreover the diction is a very important singing technique that proves your talent.

Once you have practiced these basic singing techniques of breathing, relaxation and resonance, you need to practice diction as it will enhance your voice quality to a great extent and you will learn to control your vocal range which will ultimately result in developing your smooth perfect voice.

Nat and Alex Wolfe: The Next Big Thing

nakedbrothersbandWhen your mother is an actress and your father is a jazz pianist the chances that you’ll wind up in show business are fairly good. Yet, even with pedigree on their side Nat and Alex Wolfe still defied the odds by becoming rock stars before they turned 10-years-old.

Nat and Alex Wolfe are real-life brothers who formed “The Naked Brothers Band” before they were even in school. The name arrived after the brothers jumped out of the bathtub and started singing “we’re the naked brothers band!” Incidentally, there’s a similar story involving Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis.

Nat was born in 1994 and Alex in ’97. Most of us own CD’s older than that.

While in preschool, Nat formed a band with his friends-most of whom had famous parents-called The Silver Boulders. The band borrowed “silver” from The Silver Beatles (the original name of the Beatles) and “boulders” is a synonym of the word “stones”, as in The Rolling Stones.

Nat plays the keyboards, while Alex, inspired by Ringo Starr, plays the drums. They both write songs.

When Nat and Alex were 9 and 6 respectively, they went to record a demo with their father Michael Wolfe (former band leader and musical director of The Arsenio Hall Show). That’s when their mother, Polly Draper (former star of the television drama thirtysomething) got the idea for a mock-documentary about the band.

Thus The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie was born.

This low budget independent film featured a slew of celebrities, mostly friends of Draper and Wolfe, as well as the entire cast of thritysomething. Despite featuring the entire cast of thirtysomething, the movie was good enough to catch the attention of Nickelodeon.

After some initial arm twisting (the parents were reluctant to put their kids on television), the network convinced Draper and Wolfe to turn The Naked Brothers into a television series.

The series began in February of 2007 and is now in its third season. It’s one of the highest rated shows in Nickelodeon’s history.

Now fans can buy Nat and Alex Wolfe tickets as the brothers embark on their second national tour. These kids will have logged two tours of America before finishing high school. Fans can catch the brothers in cities like Anaheim, Dallas, Los Vegas and New Orleans.

Cynics may be tempted to think Nat and Alex were shoved into the spotlight by over bearing parents. However, Draper and Wolfe don’t need to live vicariously through their children; they’ve already had success in the entertainment world.

Granted, Draper is now regulated to guest starring on Law and Order’s and CSI’s, but she’s still an accomplished actress. Wolfe may not be a household name, but he’s had an impressive and successful career in music.

Either are the kids looking for a paycheck. Besides living off of thirtysomething and Arsenio Hall Show money, Draper’s brother is Tim Draper, the man widely recognized as creating “viral marketing.” In fact, the Drapers come from long line of venture capitalists. As you can see, there’s no pressure on Nat and Alex to be the family’s bread winner.

It’s obvious that these kids want to rock and it’s obvious that they’re not being pushed beyond their ability to cope by fame-hungry parents, but what about their music? Certainly they have to be nothing more than insipid teeny-boppers playing shallow, obnoxious bubble gum pop?

You would think so, but that’s not the case.

Sure their lyrics lack the maturity necessary to appeal to adults, but these kids actually have talent. It would not come as a surprise if the Wolfe Brothers grow up and have successful and relevant careers in the music industry.

This comes as very good news for parents forced to chaperon their kids to Nat and Alex Wolfe concerts in Englewood or Houston for example. The brothers’ music, highly influenced by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, is far better than anything you’ll hear at a Miley Cyrus concert.

If your kids want to see Nat and Alex Wolfe this summer you should probably take them. That way, when the brothers become significant forces in rock and roll you can say you saw them way back when.

Almost Anyone Can Learn How To Sing

Like much of what is considered “conventional wisdom” the idea that only certain people have the ability to sing well is complete nonsense. Many people have this notion that being able to sing well is something that someone is just “born with” but that’s not really true. Even the most famous singers in the world have practiced their voice (in one way or another) to get to where they are.

Sure, for some people it is easier than for others. But just because singing may be coming hard to you doesn’t mean you should give up. The truth is very few people lack the ability to be good singers.

The common perception among people is that they may be “tone deaf” just because they have trouble singing in key. This is not the case. It’s much more likely that you simply do not know how to control your voice, not that you are tone deaf.

Real tone deafness is a very rare condition and if you were actually tone deaf you would definitely know it. Those who are tone deaf can not differentiate between tones which means they get very little enjoyment from music. If you’re interested in becoming a singer then it’s highly unlikely that you fall in this category!

Another common misunderstanding that people have is that the only way to learn how to sing is to hire a private vocal coach. While this may indeed be an effective way to learn how to sing, it’s also very expensive. And in many cases you may wind up with a singing coach who isn’t particularly good at what they do or who doesn’t use the most effective techniques.

A less expensive and often far more effective approach is to download your singing lessons online. Why would you want to go this route? Because you would have access to proven methods which have worked for many other people and you would be able to start right away. Another great thing about this way of learning to sing is that you can do so on your own schedule at your own pace.

One more thing I think you should remember: Even the world’s greatest singers of all time have done have done their vocal practice. The voice is just like any other instrument like guitar or piano. Some people may have a “natural” skill for it but they still must practice to get really great at it.

Regardless of your current vocal skill level you can greatly improve your voice by practicing. It’s important to believe in yourself and what you want to accomplish. You can become a good singer.

Things to Consider For a Piano Lesson Beginners

If you want to learn to play the piano, there are things you need to consider. The very first one is to determine why would you want to learn to play the piano – is it because you want to become a performer with a large audience? Or you merely want to play leisurely in your home? The second consideration is how often can you practice – 30 minutes a day or 3 hours per day? The third thing is to consider the medium of instruction – do you want to learn by seeing it or hearing it? To explain these considerations, let me discuss it to you comprehensively.

Reason for Playing the Piano

There are a lot of reasons why people would want to play the piano. A lot of people took piano lessons when they were still very young and afterwards decided to quit when they found out that they don’t really wanted to learn to play the piano after all. Some wanted to learn to play the piano because they want to become a performer. There are two reasons why you would want to play the piano. One is to become a professional pianist which involves performing in an audience and the other one is to satisfy the desire of being able to play leisurely. A concert pianist is one example of performer who plays after a large audience. Although it is still possible for you to become a pianist performer by learning on your own, it is still best to seek the expertise of a professional piano teacher so that you will be able to get pointers and strategies on how to do it effectively.

Allocating Time for Practice

Setting time for practice is just as important as choosing the medium of piano instruction. If you wanted to become a performer then it would suggest putting more time for your piano practice. It is even required to practice several hours a day hone your skills and learn the right strategies. On the other hand, if you want to just play the piano whenever you feel like it, you can practice for a few minutes a day especially if you are only interested to play simple songs like “Happy Birthday”.

Consider the Medium of Instruction

Not all piano enthusiasts learn by visuals. Some prefer to learn it by ear. If you enroll in a usual piano class, you are actually taught on how to read notes. However, there are also classes that offer piano lessons by ear and learning how a certain song is played. Choosing the right piano lesson program that works well for you will help you become a better student and a future excellent pianist.

So if I were you, consider these things before enrolling in a piano class. This way you won’t be wasting time, effort, and money just choosing the best one for you. Whatever your reason for playing the piano, I am certain that you will turn out to be an excellent pianist someday.

Lil Wayne: Career History

TheCarterIIIOn September 27, 1982, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He spent his early years growing up in the tough Hollygrove district. He started rapping at a very young age at local block parties, where he was heard by a group signed by Cash Money Records.

Cash Money’s CEO, Brian “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams was giving Wayne some consideration. After Wayne learned the phone number and location of their office, he practically haunted them day and night. He would even leave daily rap messages on their answering machine. They were so impressed with the 12 year olds dedication they decided to give in and sign him, pairing him up with another young rapper, Big Goochie, who they had also just signed.

The duo released an album, “True Story” under the “The B.G.’s” and right from day one his style was a true gangsta rap. He was unlike most young rappers who usually start off with “bubble gum rap,” and do not make the change over until they are well out of their teen years.

Wayne’s mother became worried about her son’s actions and the company he kept when he began wearing gang affiliation clothing. Knowing the street reputation the Williams brothers had, she decided it was best to remove Lil Wayne from the Cash Money Company. In retaliation, he ran away from home for a week and during that time managed to convince his Mom that the records company owners were not to blame for any of his actions or choices.

In 1995, he along with B.G., and two other young rappers, Young Turk and Juvenile, formed the group Hot Boys. The first album, “Get it How you Live” in 1997 was followed up with “Guerilla Warfare” in 1999, shortly before his first solo effort. Wayne’s first solo album was a great success; “Tha Block is Hot” (title track) became a top ten hit.

The second album, “Lights Out” and the third,”500 Degreez”, did not fair as well and lead him to take a brief break from solo efforts to collaborate with others. Also, by this time he was the last of the Hot Boys; the others having gone their own way and retreating from what seemed to be a failing record company.

During the early 2000′s, Lil Wayne was a prolific contributor to others rap lyrics and made numerous guest appearances on other rapper’s recordings. At this time, he also made several mix tapes that received critical acclaim within the music industry. He even offered a few mixes online for free. In 2004 he released a new album, “Tha Carter” which introduced the public to a more defined and crisper performance from the young rapper. The single, “Go D.J.”, hit the top 20, and the album, the top five. In December 2005, he released “Tha Carter II”, which arrived on the charts at number two and produced a hit single, “Fireman.”

Tha Carter III” was released in June 2008 and sold one million copies within the first week, and another million within the month. Two big hit singles from this album were “Lollipop” and “A Milli.”

Wayne’s style has become refined and improves as time progresses and with his talent for writing lyrics, record sales for him come with great ease. If his work is followed, and especially from such a young age, it may be easy to agree with his self proclaimed statement, that he is “the best rapper alive.”

What You Need to Know in Learning to Play the Piano

Are you interested to learn the piano? Do you want to know what can you do to learn it? Here are four simple steps that you can do to learn the piano.

First, you will need to find yourself a good teacher. Most of the time people tend to overlook this feature of learning to play the piano or any kind of musical instrument for that matter. You might think that you might not be able to afford it, or you might think that you can learn on you own. But having a teacher will be very beneficial to you. It is a fact that it can be an expense, and it is also a fact that you can learn on your own. But, you gain a lot of knowledge in a short span of time from somebody who used to experience what you are experiencing and knows how to get you there efficiently. By having a teacher, this will also help you get more inputs on how to play the right way and not to get the bad routine of playing. Bad habits are very difficult to break as they turn out to be so much a piece of how you play. So make sure learn to play it the right way.

Second, you also need to perform frequently. A lot of people fail to follow through and they do not any development that they want to achieve since they do not fix the time. You can learn faster if you put in some time every single day or even a number of times a day than to try to stuff it all in immediately facing the next lecture. It is recommended that you examine what you are trying to study one or two times a day than working for hours on end. And occasionally you can get very exhausted when you are working for long periods of time making your fingers and your brain don’t work collectively. In the meantime, you can also summarize what you are trying to learn in your head and acquire the most out of your time away from the instrument as well. Memorization also plays an important role in learning, so don’t overlook the mental aspect of learning.

Third, you need to set goals for yourself. It does not have to be learning one whole piece before a set time, but it can be split into a number of smaller parts a day or lines to learn at a time. You can also try to get over in your mind many times a day the part that you are working on. Then when the time comes for you to try and play, you will be able to remember it much better.

And lastly, you will need to continue to work on sight reading skills. It may seem difficult but when you start making it a routine to merely experience some slight bit of new material everyday, this will lead you en route for an improved skill level in sight reading. And most importantly, don’t ever quit just because you are having difficulty. You also need to realize that it will take time and effort before you can truly master it. But it will all be worth your while. You just need to offer yourself, practice and search for a good instructor. And in no time, you will be able to learn the piano.
