It’s that time of year again when Western Super Mare leads the way in delivering exceptional music with the addition of over 45,000 music fans descending on the western resort.

There was two disappointing elements of the day, with the main one being the typical English weather which delivered heavy showers throughout the day and during these frequently spells revelers were more interested in figuring out how to stay dry instead of raving it up to the bands.

The second disappointment was before I even set foot on the western sand I thought the lineup was not as good compared to the 2008 show. Such as Dizzie Rascal headlining this year compared to Kelly Roland the year before. There is no comparison who is the biggest star and who deserved that prime slot.

Perhaps this could be due to my age and that on the main stage there was a lot of rappers and collaborations kicking off which was probably aimed at the younger generation.

Bett Ditto from Gossip kicked off the event with “Standing In the Way of control” and she delivered a energetic performance by running round the stage like her life depended on it – she even entered the Golden Circle to give the fans a closer part of the action.

As with last year’s appearance from George Sampson we were presented this year with “Diversity”, but unlike George Sampson Diversity actually put together a routine for the crazy crowd which was good to see.

Will Young and JLS delivered a excellent dance routine and I was looking forward to seeing The Saturdays perform, but felt with the Saturdays there wasn’t really any group chemistry and it looked like 5 solo singers working against each other instead of a band working together.

Other appearances also included: Tincy Stryder, Calvin Harris, Basement Jaxx, N-Dubz, Taio Cruzz, The Noissettes, Shontelle, Daniel Merriwather and Dizzie Rascal as the headliner.

As an overall opinion it was a good energy bustling day with plenty of action hitting the stage.
