Lil Wayne: Career History
On September 27, 1982, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He spent his early years growing up in the tough Hollygrove district. He started rapping at a very young age at local block parties, where he was heard by a group signed by Cash Money Records.
Cash Money’s CEO, Brian “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams was giving Wayne some consideration. After Wayne learned the phone number and location of their office, he practically haunted them day and night. He would even leave daily rap messages on their answering machine. They were so impressed with the 12 year olds dedication they decided to give in and sign him, pairing him up with another young rapper, Big Goochie, who they had also just signed.
The duo released an album, “True Story” under the “The B.G.’s” and right from day one his style was a true gangsta rap. He was unlike most young rappers who usually start off with “bubble gum rap,” and do not make the change over until they are well out of their teen years.
Wayne’s mother became worried about her son’s actions and the company he kept when he began wearing gang affiliation clothing. Knowing the street reputation the Williams brothers had, she decided it was best to remove Lil Wayne from the Cash Money Company. In retaliation, he ran away from home for a week and during that time managed to convince his Mom that the records company owners were not to blame for any of his actions or choices.
In 1995, he along with B.G., and two other young rappers, Young Turk and Juvenile, formed the group Hot Boys. The first album, “Get it How you Live” in 1997 was followed up with “Guerilla Warfare” in 1999, shortly before his first solo effort. Wayne’s first solo album was a great success; “Tha Block is Hot” (title track) became a top ten hit.
The second album, “Lights Out” and the third,”500 Degreez”, did not fair as well and lead him to take a brief break from solo efforts to collaborate with others. Also, by this time he was the last of the Hot Boys; the others having gone their own way and retreating from what seemed to be a failing record company.
During the early 2000′s, Lil Wayne was a prolific contributor to others rap lyrics and made numerous guest appearances on other rapper’s recordings. At this time, he also made several mix tapes that received critical acclaim within the music industry. He even offered a few mixes online for free. In 2004 he released a new album, “Tha Carter” which introduced the public to a more defined and crisper performance from the young rapper. The single, “Go D.J.”, hit the top 20, and the album, the top five. In December 2005, he released “Tha Carter II”, which arrived on the charts at number two and produced a hit single, “Fireman.”
“Tha Carter III” was released in June 2008 and sold one million copies within the first week, and another million within the month. Two big hit singles from this album were “Lollipop” and “A Milli.”
Wayne’s style has become refined and improves as time progresses and with his talent for writing lyrics, record sales for him come with great ease. If his work is followed, and especially from such a young age, it may be easy to agree with his self proclaimed statement, that he is “the best rapper alive.”

The Story Behind Linkin Park
Linkin Park is a popular band, and hundreds, if not thousands, download music videos from the group every day. If you are one who loves to watch music videos of this group, take some time to learn a little more in-depth information about the group and its members.
History of Linkin Park
The band started with Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon, three high school friends from California who enjoyed playing together. After graduation, they decided to see how far they could take their group, and then recruited three new members: Joe Han, Dave Ferrell, and Mark Wakefield. The new group gave themselves the name “Zero” and began to record and produce their own songs. The original songs were produced in Mike’s bedroom studio, but they were struggling to land a record deal.
As with many similar bands, the lack of success led to tension. This caused two of the members to leave. First to leave was Wakefield, who was Xero’s vocalist, followed by Farrell, who went on to tour with other groups.
The group had to recruit a new vocalist, and they turned to Chester Bennington. His unique singing style landed him a spot, and the new group changed its name to Hybrid Theory. As the band came back to life, it changed its name again to Linkin Park.
Still, the band continued to struggle. They turned to Jeff Blue, vice president of Warner Bros. Records, who had referred Chester Bennington to them in the past. With his help, they signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records in 1999, and their first successful album Hybrid Theory, was released in 2000.
The first album contained much of the work from the group over the last ten years. Music fans enjoyed it, and it sold over 4.8 million records its first year. Singles from the album were popping up all over the place, including several hit movies. The album was nominated for three Grammies, winning the Grammy for the best hard rock performance, which solidified the band’s popularity.
Over time, bassist Dave Farrell rejoined the group, and they published the remix album Reanimation, which earned second spot on the Billboard 200. This opened the band to touring, and in 2002 the band released its third album, Meteora, which featured a variety of styles.
Between 2004 and 2006, the band rested from recording for a while, allowing its members to work on side project while the group did some tours. Linkin Park came back together in 2006 to record Minutes to Midnight, which was not released until November of 2008 due to the band’s busy tour schedule.

Eminem – The Real Story
Eminem and Slim Shady are both stage names for the same artist, and fans from around the world often download his music videos. Whether you are looking to download music videos for free or would be willing to pay for videos from your favorite artist, you will enjoy them much more if you know more about the performer. Before you watch music videos by Eminem or anyone else, take some time to learn about the musician himself.
The Life and Art of Eminem
Eminem was born as Marshall Bruce Mathers III. Even though he was named for his father, Marshall Bruce Mathers, Jr., he was raised by his mother. His father abandoned the small family shortly after the boy was born. Marshall spent his youth moving between Kansas City, St. Joseph, and Warren, Michigan. He got his musical start as a teenager in Warren, Michigan, where he took the name M&M (Marshal Mathers). He began performing rap as an armature at age fourteen, and in 1995 he joined Soul Intent and released his first single.
The young rapper quickly gained a following among underground hip hop audiences, and he dropped out of high school at the age of 17 after being forced to repeat his freshman year due to lack of attendance. He worked as a cook and dishwasher at a local restaurant while he worked on his art, earning minimum wage. He had been signed to FBT Productions since his beginnings in 1992, but it was not until his first album was released in 1996 that he began to gain a following. With the debut if Infinite, the young musician changed his moniker to Eminem.
His fist albums were viewed with much controversy. Many accused him of copying the styles of other artists, such as Nas, AZ, and Cage. In 1997, Eminem won second place in the Rap Olympics, which continued to grow his following. In 1999 he released The Slim Shady LP, his first major studio album. It became one of the year’s most popular albums, going triple platinum. The lyrics were quite controversial, including songs dealing with death and murder.
This first platinum album ushered in a new era for the artist, and he released several multi-platinum albums over the next six years. In 2005, many rumors about Eminem’s immanent retirement surfaced, and he took a break from recording. In the same year, he was listed as #58 in the book 100 People Who Are Screwing up America, where the author Bernard Goldberg criticize the explicit lyrics of the performer.
Eminem has faced much scrutiny from the rapping world because he is Caucasian, and this has put much of the anger in the music. He forced his way into the industry, he reached success when he partnered with his mentor, Dr. Dre, and together they created the Marshal Mathers LP, which won three Grammies and was nominated “Album of the Year,” which had never before happened for a rap album. Whether or not Eminem produces another album, he has impacted the rap industry and produced many popular music videos and albums.
Eminem Trivia
- Eminem had knee surgery, which causes his awkward stance
- As a boy, Marshall wanted to draw comic books
- Eminem wears glasses
- The artist has millions, yet cuts his own hair
- He is the only Caucasian to ever be on the cover of XXL or The Source
- Sports a tattoo of his daughter, Haile Jade, on his right shoulder
- Has one child and custody of a niece named Lainie
Eminem may be known for his music, but a lifetime of rejection, first by his father, than by the school system, and finally by the rapping world, made his music what it is. The next time you watch a music video from Eminem, you will do so with a little more knowledge of the man who is performing for you.

Fall Out Boy – A Brief Biography
Fall Out Boy is an American alternative rock group that burst on the scene in 2005 with their major label release “From Under the Cork Tree.” Their follow up albums “Infinity on High” (released in 2007) and “Foile A Duex” (released in 2008) have been popular with fans and critics alike.
Fall Out Boy (FOB) takes their name from the television show The Simpsons. In a similar fashion, many of the titles of Fall Out Boy songs reference pop culture. They’ve been one of the first bands to widely use websites, social networking and other Internet technologies to spread information about their music and connect with fans. The release of their fifth studio album was preceded by a viral marketing campaign spread across several websites.
Fall Out Boy’s signature sound is an eclectic mix of styles. Wentz writes the majority of the lyrics for the songs while Stump handles the arrangement of the music. Stump has been tapped to help produce records and singles for many other bands and artists such as T.I, Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, The Hush Sound, Lupe Fiasco The Roots.
Fall Out Boy members use personal blogs, You Tube and the social networking site FriendsorEnemies.com to stay connected with fans. Fall Out Boy pictures and videos are frequently posted to these sites keeping fans involved in the band and the music.
The band was started by bassist Pete Wentz and guitarist Joe Trohman in 2001 when both were just teenagers in Chicago. Patrick Stump, who originally auditioned to be the drummer, became the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. They were joined by a drummer and additional guitar player and the mini-LP “Fall Out Boy’s Evening Out with Your Girlfriend” was released in 2003.
After the LP, two of the members left the band. Drummer Andrew Hurley joined Wentz, Trohman and Stump to create the current line-up. The band relied heavily on their punk rock roots, but combined the sound with pop and emo influences. Their first full length record “Take This to Your Grave” was released in May 2003.
Their first major label release was in 2005 with “From Under the Cork Tree.” The single “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” shot up to #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Fall Out Boy video for the song was honored with a 2005 MTV Video Music Award, which increased sales of the album. Fall Out Boy was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2006 Grammys.
“Infinity on High” was their major label follow up and was released in 2007. The album sold 260,000 copies in its first week and reached number one on the Billboard 200. The single “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” reached number two in the U.S. and the U.K. The musical style is this album distanced the band from their punk roots with its heavily pop influenced sound. Although some long time fans rejected the new direction the band was taking, the album had widespread appeal. “Thanks Fr the Mmrs”, “Carpel Tunnel of Love”, “Take Over the Breaks Lawyer” and “I’m Like a Lawyer” were all major hits due to the accompanying Fall Out Boy Videos.

Akon – Mysterious and Beautiful
Akon, real name Aliune Thame, has risen to prominence with his own records and his many collaborations with other artists. His hip hop tunes are blended with the West African music of his heritage to create something unique and different from the rest of the current rap industry. He’s the only solo artist to hold the number one and number two spots on the Billboard Top 100 list simultaneously.
Akon was born in St. Louis in either 1977 or 1973. After his birth, his parents returned to Senegal in Western Africa. He spent most of his childhood split between Africa and New Jersey, eventually settling in New Jersey in his mid teens. His experience of growing up between cultures has influenced his musical style and helped him make his big break in 2004.
He recorded his first song at the age of 15 and started distributing demos in 2004. His LP “Trouble” was released by Universal records in 2004. The record showcased his unique blend of East Coast and Southern hip hop with tribal beats. The singles “Locked Up”, “Lonely” and “Ghetto” were all made hits due to their constant rotation on hip hop stations around the country due to Akon video. The album eventually reached the top 10 in the U.S.
His second album, called “Konvicted”, was released in late 2006. Akon collaborated with Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Styles P on the record. The song “Smack That” rose to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for five weeks and the Akon video featured Eminem. “I Wanna Love You” was the second single and it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 list. The other Akon songs from the album were “Don’t Matter” and “Sorry Blame it One Me.”
2006 through 2008 were full of collaborations for Akon. He performed on and produced the hit “The Sweet Escape” with Gwen Stefani. He created “Mixtape Messiah 2″ with Chamillionaire. He has also worked with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, the Three 6 Mafia, Fabolous, Daddy Yankee, Menudo, Kat Deluna and even Michael Jackson. In total, he has done over 155 guest appearances on songs.
In addition to his many musical collaborations, Akon has started two record labels called Konvict Music and Kon Line Distribution. He launched a clothing line called Konvict Clothing in 2007 that includes blazers, jeans and other accessories for both men and women. He has a reality show with his nearly identical brothers in the works. Akon pictures show that his brothers, although not triplets, look almost identical to the rapper. The reality show will involve his brothers trying to get free tickets, meals and attention from women by pretending to be Akon.
Akon is also working his way into television and movies. He guest starred on CSI, Big Brother Celebrity Edition and WWE Raw. He is working on a feature length movie entitled Illegal Alien, which is based on parts of his life. Mekhi Pheifer is set to play the rap star.
“Freedom”, Akon’s third album, was released in December of 2008 with three scheduled singles. In addition to his solo album, Akon will also be producing a record for Pussy Cat doll Nicole Scherzinger, working on an album with rapper Flo Rida and collaborating with Nelly, Pharrell and T-Pain to form a rap super group in 2009.

Limitless Music Downloads
At first music downloads through the internet were limited and expensive. Few sites provided the service and those that did were costly. Then illegal services rose in popularity. The original Napster provided music for free but ended up being closed down. At last there are legitimate unlimited music download services available. These services range quite a bit in their payment schemes with some being pay-per-download and others being subscription fee services. However, all of these sites have a massive range of tracks available covering virtually anything you could ever want to buy.
Numerous sites now provide services like these but given the sheer variety and scope the choice of where to get your music from is a difficult one. It’s worth finding out which sites offer the best value for money when you’re looking into downloading music from the internet. With so much information to consider why not read on to find out more about what downloading from these music sites entails.
There are a number of music providers on the internet, some of which are also famous high street names such as HMV. Sites like this, and Amazon, provide a vast amount of music for your listening pleasure at relatively low prices. Covering soundtracks, artist albums, music videos and more the range of products on offer to the consumer on these sites is nothing short of breathtaking. The downside of sites like these is that, for the serious music fan, there is just too much expense. Music on these sites is cheap compared to the high street, but if you want thousands of songs you’ll be spending a lot of cash. Thankfully there are now solutions to this.
The newest range of music download websites now grant customers access to limitless downloads at much lower costs. This means you can download ten tracks a day, or ten tracks per second (if you’re internet is fast enough) and you won’t have to pay any extra. This may sound too good to be true, but it really does exist and it’s completely legal. Download sites like these sometimes charge one off membership fees or otherwise charge subscription fees but regardless of how many songs you want to download you’ll always pay the same amount. The cost of membership or subscription isn’t very much either. In fact, it’s cheap enough that even kids can afford to pay for the service with their own pocket money.
However, with so many sites providing this sort of service it can be daunting figuring out which to choose. So firstly check the selection of music on offer. If it has the kind of genres that you’re after then that’s a start. Whilst all of the sites carry the main genres such as pop, rock, and r’n'b, some may not carry niche genres. Also check that the music file format is compatible with your computer and look into whether the service requires you to download a client application. Then compare prices and enjoy the service of your choice.

Where Can You Watch Free Music Videos?
The Internet is a treasure trove for music lovers. You can listen to music online at streaming radio websites, you can download your favorite songs and music videos at many, many websites, and you can even see free music videos at many different places. If you are interested in watching some free music videos, where should you go? Here is some advice to help you find free music videos online.
Figure out What You Want to Watch
This may seem like a given, but the first step towards finding a music video to watch is to think about the artists, songs, and type of music that you would like to watch. Do you have a favorite artist? Is there a particular genre of music that you prefer? The answers to these questions will help guide your search as you look for free music videos. If there is something specific you are looking for, you may want to write down some of these ideas, because you can use them as search terms.
If you are unsure, you can check out the lists of new music on popular media sites. If an artist has a new album coming out, chances are there are a few music videos from it as well. These are often free to view, because they help sell the album, which is what the artist’s ultimate goal is. Once you have your ideas, it is time to start searching.
Check the Artist’s Site
One of the first places to go when looking for free music videos to watch, but not necessarily to download, is the artist’s website. Again, these are great marketing tools, so artists will often post them to help promote their albums.
Check your favorite social networking website. Your artist may have a fan club or profile page that you can access. If so, chances are very high there will be a free music video or two that you can access.
Often these sources do not allow you to download the video. They are simply to be viewed on the website. If you want a resource to let you download the videos, you will have to keep looking.
Do an Online Search
Remember your list of artists or albums? Go to your favorite search engine and search for those terms along with “free music video.” You will find many excellent resources in this manner.
Use caution when visiting some sites that say they have “free music videos,” however. There is sometimes a catch. Make sure that they are truly free, not free after you pay for a membership.
Blogs, File Sharing, and Social Networking Sites
Many people post videos on blogs and their social networking profile pages. If you know of other music fans who have blogs or profile pages, visit them to see if there are new videos posted.
If you find a music blog that posts videos frequently, use a newsreader or RSS feed to get alerts when they post new updates. This will help you see the newest videos as soon as they come out.
File sharing networks can also be a source for music videos. While these tend to focus on MP3 files, they will have videos from time to time. Be wary of spyware or viruses that may be connected to these downloads, however.
A Word of Warning
You may find free music video sites that allow you to view music videos that you do not have the right to view. Make sure you only access videos legally. Remember, these are copyrighted works of art, and viewing them illegally is the same as stealing from your favorite artist. A legitimate site will clearly post that the videos are provided legally free of charge, so look for this information as you search for sites to view music videos for free.

How Do You Add Music Videos From Your Hard Drive to Your IPod?
Getting a music video that you have saved on your computer’s hard drive on to your new iPod is not as simple as you might think. Apple has done an excellent job of making it difficult to put non-iTunes products onto their devices. The goal, of course, is to force you to buy your videos from iTunes and increase their bottom line, but there are, of course, ways around this problem. You just need some specific software and a little bit of patience.
The Specs
The first step towards getting that music video onto your iPod is making sure it is in the right specs. The iPod supports MOV, M4V, and MP4 formats, and the video must be no more than 768 Kbps, 30 fps, and 320-by-240 pixels. If your video has an audio track, it must be AAC-LC and must be 160 Kbps or smaller. If you downloaded the video off of the Internet, it is probably in the correct format, although some downloads are WMV format. However, if the video came from a video sharing site, you may have a video that is in MPG or AVI format. You are going to have to encode the video to use on your iPod.
Encoding the Video
You will need to use QuickTime 7.0.3 (or a later version) as the codec to code your video. This is available to download for free from the Apple website. It may take quite a while to encode the video, so if it is a large file, you may want to let it work overnight, or your computer will be out of commission for a while.
The File Transfer Using QuickTime Pro
One of the easiest ways to get the video to your iPod is to use QuickTime Pro. It combines the codec you need with a simple uploading interface that makes it easy to get the file into iTunes and onto your iPod. This program works with Windows or Mac. It is not free, however, but it is the easiest to use. You will pay $30 for it, and you will have to pay $30 again when Apple upgrades the program.
With QuickTime Pro, all you need to do to upload the video is open the movie, select “file” and then “export,” and choose the option for “Movie to iPod.” The program will then automatically create a 320-by-240 M4V file with the correctly coded audio tract and place it on your desktop. The default settings in the program work well for most music videos, but you can fine-tune them if you want to change the way the video displays.
There are other third-party programs you can use to convert the video to the correct file format, but this one works the best. If you are going to try a free program, be sure to practice with a small video first to make sure there are no bugs in the program.
Getting the Video onto the iPod
Once the video is converted to the correct file format, you will need to import it to iTunes. To do this, open iTunes, choose “Movies” and choose “File” and then “Import.” Select the movie, click on it once, and select “Advanced, Convert Selection for iPod.” This will create a new file in your iTunes library. Once the new file is there, simply sync your iPod with iTunes the video will download to the device.
If you do all of these steps and find that the file has no sound, there is a problem with the original music video file. This is called having a muxed sound file. If the format on the original video is MPEG1 Muxed or MPEG2 Muxed, it will not play sound on your iPod. The only fix is to find a third party application that can convert this file to an AAC-LC file.

How Do You Get Music Videos on Your iPod?
The Apple I-pod is one of the most technologically advanced multi media players on the market. The new I-pod touch and I-pod video have the capabilities to store and play thousands of songs and pictures like the older models, but now have the technology to store and play hundreds of hours of video as well.
Apple has taken instant, hand held entertainment to a new level, allowing I-pod users to create their own videos and upload them onto their I-pods to enjoy and share, or to purchase their favorite music videos from I-tunes (or one of any number of other online retailers) to carry with them anywhere they go.
Where to get your Favorite Videos
There are a number of ways to get your favorite music videos and movie clips onto your I-pod where you’ll be able to enjoy them wherever and whenever you want.
The Safest Bets
You can join a website for the specific purpose of supplying videos for portable media players. This is often a good option, because the files will already be in the format that will be compatible with your I-pod software, so all you have to do is essentially point and click to have all of your favorite music videos in the palm of your hand. The only downside to joining a membership site, is that you have to pay the fee regardless of how many videos you download – so if you only find a few that you really want, then you could be paying an exceedingly high per-video fee. The up side is that downloading videos this way is perfectly safe and legal; you can search and download all the videos you want without any fear of viruses or legal repercussions.
You can transfer videos from DVDs that you already own, which will be free, but a little bit more complicated. I-pods only support video in the MPEG 4 format, which means that any videos in any other format will have to be translated into the MPEG 4 format in order to be compatible with your I-pod. Translating video into this format will require you to purchase software that can change the video format, creating an extra cost and adding an extra step to the process. You may or may not be able to find a software application that can translate certain video formats for you for free, but be very wary about what sites you download programs from – in looking for a cheaper alternative, you may just find yourself with an unwanted virus.
You can also join a “pay as you download” site, where you won’t have any out of pocket cost to join, but will pay for each individual video that you download. This is just as safe and legal as the pay membership sites, but you will probably end up paying a bit more for each individual video that you download. These sites often have very extensive libraries containing thousands and thousands of videos to choose from, so finding the exact videos that you want shouldn’t be very challenging.
A Cheaper but, Risky Option
If you don’t want to pay for the software to translate videos into the MPEG4 format, or pay anything for the videos that you download, you can always visit a free download or shareware site. You’ll usually be able to find exactly what you are looking for on these sites, but the big downsides here are that it is dangerous and illegal. These sites usually aren’t monitored very well, so it’s pretty common to find that either a virus or some form of spy-ware has found it’s way onto your computer, particular if your are on the sites often.
Whatever method of downloading videos to your I-pod that you happen to choose, you’ll be opening yourself up to a whole new style of entertainment. You’ll have instant access to all of your favorite music videos, no matter when or where you want to view them. Apple has totally changed the way we are able to entertain ourselves with the capabilities of the new series of I-pods.

With a Dance Music Video, Be a Self-made Artist!
When you hear of an artist releasing a dance music video, the images of gyrating bodies and sexual innuendos set into motion amidst colorful lights naturally come to mind. In every sense of the word, it truly is a feast for the visual and auditory senses, not to mention that your body wants to get its groove, as well!
Thanks to Me-Media and the emergence of YouTube, you can be a self-made star like Mia Rose, who has has 35 million hits on the channels, or Marie Digby with 2 million hits. You simply have to put your dancing and filmmaking talents together to shoot a dance music video!
People For Hire
When creating a music video, you must go one step higher than home videos of yourself and your friends dancing to “Thriller”. These are the people you must gather:
* The back-up dancers must be suitable. They should not overshadow you, but rather, complement you. You are the dance video’s star, after all!
* The choreographer has to enhance your strengths and know your limitations. If you’re specialty is the crip walk and the Harlem shake, then those steps must be enhanced. But if your choreographer can show you fresh steps, hire him on the spot!
* The director is the point man for your music video. Consider your budget and his expertise before you choose one.
* The cameraman should know his thing. After all, you want all your best angles captured!
The images of sexual suggestions and dancing bodies amidst colorful lights come to mind when you see a dance music video. In every sense of the word, it truly is a feast for the visual and auditory senses, not to mention that your body wishes to get its groove, as well!
Without these professionals, your dance music video won’t be complete. Based on your budget, you can also get an optional photography director and production designer. You can even get a choreographer who will also serve as back-up, or a director/cameraman in one. However, do not even think about doing it all alone because that’s just impossible.
Your Video Shoot
Before you shoot the video, you should have a storyboard with a clear idea of what you wish to achieve. Decide which factor you want focused on – your dance moves, or the special effects.
Don’t be disheartened if you have to re-shoot scenes. Even the most experienced stars have to do this, too. You want your dance music video to be as polished as possible.
Upload the Video
When you’re finally done, upload your video to YouTube. Then why not make another while waiting for those hits? You will be giving J.Lo a run for her money!
Your video can be broadcasted in many ways, the most popular of which is YouTube. Then you can relax and gnash your teeth while you wait for the hits to come. Or, you can make another one! Hollywood, here you come!
