Music and Its Influence on Us

Listening to music can soothe a savage beast. It does wonders for people who might be under pressure or simply burnt out. It can influence an emotion thus creating ebb of reaction depending on the rhythm and mood of the sound. Many experts relate situations to the type of melodies an individual listens to. It is a proven fact that most untoward situation results from listening to disturbed songs that are rebellious in nature. A piece of advice for the brokenhearted: keep away from love songs.

A harmonious tune can inspire. It can dictate happiness, sadness and even craziness. Preferred choice of sound can dictate the mood for the day. It can tell so much about a current feeling and thought. This is not a surprise. One can tell a personality through preference. So if you like to party obviously you do not like classics, do you? Surely you would get bored with theatrical songs with high notes. However it is not a bad idea to be flexible sometimes.

Admit it. You are a frustrated artist. You probably took up some piano lessons or drum lessons when you were young. Or most likely ask some friends to give you free guitar lessons to impress a crush in school. Unfortunately music lessons from school were not enough to gain a contract but cheer up. Not everyone who took singing lessons is able to open the gates of heaven, right? Read the rest of this entry »

Absolute Magic of Classical Music

Absolute Magic of Classical Music

Article by Mike Greaves

Introduction and Importance of Music existence and its further Benefits for being in our life. Which is incredible and non-ignorable.

“Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul.” Truly you get mesmerized reading this beautiful quote. Out of the zillion classes and genres of music, classical music is peerless, eternally enthralling and ultimately spell bind. To aficionado of it, the genre requires no aid in applauding and exalting its chastity. Recently some researchers have affirmed some of the really bewitching and astounding benefits of this form of music. This study suggests that it showers a hankering for impeding crime. Amazingly, some police units of the United States and the UK are fighting crime with the help of divine classical music. Surprisingly applying the same method a considerable 33 Percent abate in robberies is carried out. In the year 2004 United Kingdom, of Classical Music Concerts in London was utilized by the British Transport Police to be played in London Underground stations. Post playing the classical form of music for a continuous six months, a fantabulous decline in robberies, staff assaults and vandalism was found. Read the rest of this entry »

The X Factor UK 2011 Semi Final And Final

It’s almost over for another year and all we’ve got left to watch are the semi finals between the top 3 contestants Marcus Collins, Amelia Lily and girl band Little Mix and then the top 2 semi finalists go into the final. Each act will do a duet with their mentor and a second song in the semi final.

First Song

Marcus Collins sang Hey Ya by Outcast. It was a really good performance but some of the high notes were a bit forced.

Little Mix sang You’ve Got The Love by Candi Staton. It was a big performance of one of my favourite oldies, a bit too much going on in the background for me but they sounded good.

Amelia Lily sang Ain’t No Other Man by Christina Aguilera. It was a really good performance but out of the three I think that Marcus won the first round.

Duets With Mentors

Marcus Collins and Gary Barlow – She’s Always A Woman by Billy Joel

A lovely performance and I honestly think that Marcus outsang his mentor Gary.

Little Mix and Tulisa – Mash up of Empire State Of Mind and If I Ain’t Got You, both by Alicia Keys

Another good performance but in my opinion not enough to win.

Amelia Lily and Kelly Rowland – River Deep, Mountain High by Tina Turner

A superb performance with just the voices on show and no big production. Out of the 3 I think that this duet won the second round, but Kelly Rowland stole the show and she isn’t in the competition.

Personally I think that after those performances Amelia and Marcus should go through to the final, but I suspect that Little Mix will get through on cuteness and popularity.

Fast Forward

The public voted Marcus Collins and Little Mix through to the final. A shame for Amelia Lily but she did well to get through to the semi finals and at only 17 she could have a heck of a future ahead of her.

X Factor 2011 Final

Marcus kicked off with the classic Jackie Wilson song ‘Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher And Higher’ and showed us what he does best. A cracking performance for Marcus, just wish they hadn’t put him in a pink jacket.

Little Mix answered that with an excellent performance of Don’t Let Go by En Vogue

Next they performed Christmas songs and George Michael’s Last Christmas was the choice of Marcus. I’ve always found that song pretty boring and that didn’t change, but that’s my personal taste.

Lttle Mix sang the Christmas Carol Silent Night, nice but boring too.

This whole series hasn’t been all that good but I never thought I’d be bored in the final. Kelly Rowland didn’t help with her silly cutesie comments.

Next they both sang the single which will be realeased by the winner.

The performance from Marcus was really strong. I found myself wanting him to win because he has such a lovely personality as well as a voice.

I think that the version from Little Mix was slightly better and that they will win the X Factor 2011.

And the winner is Little Mix

Pop Music is Flexible

Pop music, on the other hand, has primarily come into usage to describe music that evolved out of the rock ‘n roll revolution of the mid-1950′s and continues in a definable path to today. Pop music is not usually written, performed and recorded as a symphony, suite, or concerto. Pop music gets something of a tough time these days.

Music

Music is one of the most basic experiences for human beings. Musicians are offended by this because we think music should engage you. The definition of pop music is purposefully flexible as the music that is identified as pop is constantly changing. At any particular point in time it may be easiest to identify pop music as that which is successful on the pop music charts. For the past 50 years the most successful musical styles on the pop charts have continually changed and evolved. However, there are some consistent patterns in what is identified as pop music. This would include an extremely wide range of music from vaudeville and minstrel shows to heavy metal. Pop music, on the other hand, has primarily come into usage to describe music that evolved out of the rock ‘n roll revolution of the mid-1950′s and continues in a definable path to today. This means the music that sells the most copies, draws the largest concert audiences, and is played most often on the radio. Read the rest of this entry »

iPod Docking Stations

When you have been carrying an iPod around for a while and built up your perfect library of songs it becomes your personal playlist of tracks that you enjoy. Having put the effort into creating this you might find that you want to hear the music in a different manner. Instead of just through headphones the power and dynamics of a large set of speakers might be more appealing. Also as you tend to use the device more and more, the ability to charge it whilst listening to it would make it more functional. Leaving it connected to a computer USB socket for long periods of time may work for you if you listen just on the computer during its down time but the iPod needs that little bit of extra help.

The iPod docking station is the device which helps your iPod become part of the home. You can have some really decent speakers connected to the docking station and all you have to do is nestle the iPod in the cradle and it will happily play and charge at the same time. No messing about looking around for the cable and plugging it in, you literally just drop it into the cradle and you’re off.

Of course this ease of setting the iPod up for charging may be enough for you. You might not want to actually listen to the iPod just drop it into a docking station to charge when you get home, ready for action when you next leave the house. An iPod docking station that is simply a charger, without any speakers will be the perfect accessory for it next to where you put your keys. Never again will you forget to charge your iPod before you leave the house.

The iPod docking station with speakers does not have to be a fixed thing either. There are many designs out there that allow you to transport them around easily. They can be charged up themselves and contain enough power to be used for a number of hours adding more portability. It becomes useful to take your music with you to play through a pair of powerful speakers. Your docking station is great when you are out and about and do not want to wear headphones, maybe sharing your music with friends.

There are some powerful docking stations out there too that will connect up with other devices, such as your mobile phone, so that your music listening can become more centralised and fit around your lifestyle.

An iPod, docking station or both are great gift ideas for your close friends and family, you can celebrate with music at any time of the year.

Classical Music Therapy

Article by C. Bailey-Lloyd

Music, more than entertainment, has played an instrumental role in healing and harmonizing the mind, body and spirit. For thousands of years, the Vedic culture has used sound and music for body and mind balancing, health enhancement, healing promotion and encouragement of heightened awareness.

The Greek mathematician, Pythagoras theorized that music diminished and even eradicated negative energy and emotions. Modern studies explicitly show that specific sounds and music do in fact, have documented, measurable and multiple healing benefits. Today’s medicine understands that all bodily functions, like breathing and pulse, work cyclically and rhythmically. It is these rhythms that are influenced and synchronized with certain music and sound patterns.

Music therapy, my favorite being classical, has become widly recognized since the early 1950s. Used for pain, migraines, cancer, stress, upset stomach, fatigue, depression and other, multiple disorders; music therapy can reduce heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, stress and anxiety. Most recently, music has been found to bolster the immune system and assists in harmonizing the symmetries in right and left frontal lobes of the brain, (in the case of mental disorders).

The most interesting of studies in music therapy is that of an experiment conducted years ago. The music experiment compared the effects of classical music to rock and roll music on plant growth. Intriguingly, the classical music helped the plants to grow faster; whereas the rock music actually deteriorated the plant’s growth. Similarly, classical music has the same effect on humans as it does on plants. Amazingly, patients who listened to Mozart had a whopping 10-15 point increase in IQ. Given this information, it might encourage one to go out and buy the latest Beethoven on compact disc.

Today, one doesn’t have to attend an orchestrated concert to hear it. Most outlet stores, even Internet stores sell classical music to the general public. I realize that many persons listen to fad music, pop, country or rock, but I used to be one of those people; before I dove into classical music firsthand.

The most profound effects of classical music, that I have personally discovered, is the phenomenal reduction of heart rate and respiratory rate it induces. When listening to classical music, I am “lifted” in spirit, mind and body. Like a feather takes to the sky, I feel freer, more relaxed and in tune with my higher self. Perhaps, if you get a chance, take a fifteen minute break from life. Pick up Mozart, Beethoven or some other classical music CD, pop it in your stereo, close your eyes and let the music set you free! Tell us about your experience. Did it make you feel more relaxed, inspired and/or rejuvenated? Holistic Junction would like to hear from you today.? Classical Music Therapy

That clearly shows its popularity through out the world including U.S.A, U.K, Germany, France, and Australia. It enjoys great popularity in Asia, Africa and Americas as well.

It was born as Rock and Roll in 1950s. It was a fusion form of Rhythm & Blues, Country and other popular forms. It became instant hit across the United States of America. Bo Didley and Chuck Berry were the early rock artists. Little Richards and Fats Domino were also popular. It was widely accepted as popular form of music and spread to Britain and other countries.

Its spread to United Kingdom was fast and swift. Cliff Richards and John Lennon were the early artists. Both of them achieved great success. John Lennon later formed the legendary ‘The Beatles’. It enjoys great popularity even today. The Rolling Stones also achieved international success.

Cream, Judas Priest, Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and Pink Floyd among many others dominated the Heavy Metal genre of rock. U2, R.E.M, Sex Pistols, Devo, and Pattie Smith served the Punk rock as well. Madonna and Mariah Carey achieved great successs in soft rock area. Songs of all famous artists are available as mp3 music downloads also.

With fusion with other forms, many sub genres became popular. Christian rock, Classic rock, Garage, Glam, Grunge rocks are the chief ones.

Dance Music also became very popular along with rock. It is electronic music with dance beats. Important forms are House, Electronica, Trance and Disco. It is usually played at discos and night clubs. Now, it is played at parties, functions and gatherings also. As the name itself implies, it creates great dancing atmosphere.
